Types of braces available
Stainless Steel (traditional), Ceramic and Invisalign are the main types of braces available.
Stainless Steel (traditional):
These are the most commonly used brackets worldwide. They are silver in colour and teenagers like them as they are able to change the colours at their 6-8 weekly visits – see “colour my braces”. As seen above.
Ceramic:
Adults generally prefer ceramic braces as they are less visible on your teeth compared to stainless steel braces. The o-rings are also clear in colour.
Invisalign:
This treatment involves wearing a series of clear, removable and comfortable acrylic trays (mouthguards) that straighten your teeth like braces. Patients find brushing and flossing a little easier. This treatment is not suitable for all patients’ orthodontic needs.
